It’s official! The BBS has formally announced upcoming changes to the California MFT Clinical Exam. Beginning on September 1, 2024, the clinical exam will shift from 170 questions (150 scored and 20 non-scored questions) to 150 total questions. That means that once the changes go into effect, 125 questions will be scored and 25 experimental questions will not be scored. And there’s even better news. The four-hour time limit for the exam will remain unchanged, ensuring that test-takers will have more time to answer each question going forward. Additionally, the exam content and structure will follow the same format as the current exam plan with no updates.
How does this impact my exam prep course with TDC?
Rest assured, the TDC team is working diligently to update the study material to reflect these changes before the September deadline. We are revising the time management breakdown as well as Final Mock I and Final Mock II. When the revisions are completed, we will document the change in the “Announcements” section of the course homepage. All updates will be automatically added to your account.
If you’re a TDC customer and have exam questions related to these updates or other aspects of the test, you can email your personal clinical exam coach anytime. We love receiving your questions, and we’re always here to help support you!
