Are you ready for the new ASWB LMSW and LCSW exams coming August 3, 2026? We are! Amanda and her TDC coaching team have been hard at work making our LMSW and LCSW programs even better. Before we get into our program updates, let’s talk about the changes to the exam:
ASWB Exam Changes
The biggest change is that it went from 170 questions (with 150 scored and 20 experimental) to 122 questions (with 110 scored and 12 experimental).
Previously there were four categories:
1. Professional Values and Ethics
2. Human Development, Diversity, and Behavior in the Environment
3. Psychotherapy, Clinical Interventions, and Case Management
4. Assessment, Diagnostic, and Treatment Planning.
There are now three categories:
1. Values and Ethics
2. Assessment and Planning
3. Intervention and Practice.
It’s important to note that according to the ASWB, 'while the number of content areas decreased, nearly all exam content was retained. Content was consolidated and reorganized as part of the 2026 blueprints. Questions from all four 2018 content areas are included in the three major domains of the 2026 exams.'

Now onto what I am most excited about:
TDC’s updates and improvements!
Updates to TDC’s LMSW and LCSW programs include:
- An additional full length mock exam for each of our programs
- An additional half length mock exam for our LCSW program
- 13 updated audio lectures
- A new and improved ‘How to Think’ lecture breaking down the reasoning strategy you need to be successful on the exam with even more sample questions
- An updated NASW Code of Ethics lecture
- An additional 20 questions (now 90 questions total) on our Values and Ethics practice test to reflect the increased focus on ethics on the new exam with updated audio rationales
