Key Features
Our Licensed Clinical Social Work (LCSW) Exam Study System prepares social workers to pass the ASWB Clinical Level Exam. Our LCSW Exam Study System is fully updated to reflect the content of the new ASWB exams being released in August 2026. Included in the online study system is:
- Instant access to all of your course materials as soon as you purchase.
- Fully updated for the new 2026 exam!
- New and improved audio lectures.
- Over 800 practice questions with audio or written rationales, including an additional half-length and full-length mock exam (now totaling three half-length and three full-length mock exams)!
- An updated NASW Code of Ethics lecture and a 90-question Values and Ethics practice test to reflect the increased focus on ethics on the new exam.
- An organized, step-by-step study plan designed by social work experts: we are the only program with a 10-step system that provides clear tasks to prepare for the ASWB Clinical Level Exam. This makes studying efficient and effective.
- A new and improved lecture breaking down the reasoning skills needed to be successful on the exam. To pass the LCSW exam, you need to understand how to approach the reasoning-based questions that make up the vast majority of the LCSW exam, including being able to identify the key clinical concept behind each question. Our study program brings content to life with real-life examples similar to those you will see on the LCSW exam.
- Audio lectures with printable handouts: listen and learn at your convenience. When you attend an in-person workshop, you listen to the information only once. Real learning requires repetition. Our lectures provide the opportunity to listen and take notes as many times as needed.
- A thorough review of all essential content areas on the LCSW exam: we took the current ASWB Clinical Level Handbook and organized our course in a way that makes all the content accessible and covers the information in a way that will actually be tested on the ASWB Clinical level exam.
- Multiple, effective study tools: We all learn best when the material is presented in different formats, and our program does just that. We review the Top 50 Topics tested, provide multiple handouts, lectures, quizzes, and mock exams to reinforce concepts.
- Clear test-taking strategies and anxiety management you will use on exam day.
- Experienced LCSW exam prep coaches available via email for questions and support - our coaches are real live social workers who have passed the ASWB Clinical Level Exam with a score of 90% or higher! They know the LCSW exam inside and out and will always email you back to you within two days (if not sooner!).
- Unlike other programs out there that cut corners, we will never create content or provide coaching using AI. We want to help you pass with confidence using our system that has helped over 100,000 social workers successfully pass their licensing exams.
The LCSW licensing exam course takes just under 80 hours to complete. We recommend studying between 2 and 12 weeks, depending on your schedule. Access to the program expires after 6 months, but it is FREE to extend or repeat the program. We are with you until you PASS the Licensed Clinical Social Work Exam! Once you sign up, you can access the program & digital resources immediately. Nothing is shipped: all content is online. Get started today to prepare yourself to PASS the ASWB Clinical Exam with confidence!
Still unsure if our LCSW Exam Prep is right for you?

Here at the Therapist Development Center, we understand that taking the ASWB Clinical Level Exam can be daunting, and choosing the right social work ASWB Clinical exam guide can be confusing. Many of you have jobs that are dependent on passing this LCSW exam. Others have been out of graduate school for a long time and feel out of touch with the broad amount of content tested on the ASWB Clinical Exam. Finding the right LCSW Exam Prep Program can be challenging with so many options: books, workshops, apps, and other online tools.
Many social workers come to us after using other LCSW study guides and failing, finding themselves feeling defeated or hopeless that they won't get the help they need. They report that they are disappointed with other social work ASWB Clinical exam guides: they were overwhelmed with a pile of books, frustrated that the day-long workshop only covered a small portion of the content tested, or let down that the online program they chose didn’t teach them how to answer the types of questions that appeared on their exams. We get it. We created a robust study program for the ASWB Clinical Exam that offers multiple learning methods so your brain can learn both the content you need to pass and the reasoning strategy you need to analyze the unique types of questions that are included on this exam. The good news is that once the social workers who previously failed started studying with us, they quickly found themselves with a renewed sense of confidence and were able to successfully PASS their ASWB Clinical Level Exams.
How many questions are on the ASWB clinical exam?
There are 122 multiple-choice questions on the ASWB Exam, of which 110 are scored. The other 12 questions are unscored and are being field-tested for possible inclusion in future ASWB exams. All 122 questions are multiple-choice questions.
I passed my LMSW exam with TDC. Can I get a discount on the LCSW program?
Yes! Returning LMSW customers are eligible for a discount on the LCSW program because many key topics (like diagnoses, developmental stages, theories, ethics, etc.) overlap between the two exams. The LCSW program includes access to the full course, six mock exams (three half and three full-length), and access to email coaching with a licensed coach. If you're a returning customer and have questions, email info@therapistdevelopmentcenter.com with the email you used for the LMSW program to receive your unique discount code.
(Please note: candidates for Massachusetts ‘LCSW’ licensure should sign up for our Masters level ‘LMSW’ program. Our ‘LMSW’ program corresponds to the Massachusetts ‘LCSW’ license. Our clinical ‘LCSW’ study system provides preparation for the Massachusetts ‘LICSW’ exam)
