Social Work Exam Prep Reviews

Jennifer Blair, LCSW

This program was amazing!  I will definitely recommend this to anyone taking either exam.  I felt confident and prepared and the study process was extremely informative and enjoyable.  Plus this program had the major bonus of being fully complete and thorough without taking up huge amounts of time.  Great all around.  Thank you!

I've taken this exam twice before. Once with another prep course that costs a mint, offers workshops, tons of written material, multiple mock exams, etc. I failed so I tried TDC, liked it, but failed again. The difference was the other prep company wanted another large chunk of money before I could study with them further. TDC willingly offered their study materials and support free of charge. They stand by their claim to be with you until you pass. The material is streamline, succinct, and does not overwhelm. In my opinion, TDC offers exactly what is needed to pass the exam. Second time around with TDC I studied for 4 weeks after taking 11 months off and passed.

The study system is phenomenal!! I highly, highly recommend this program. I passed my Illinois LCSW exam a few days ago and I could not have felt more prepared for test day. I absolutely appreciated hearing the audio rationales for the course topics while also taking down notes. I completed your program twice, as it was recommended. I also completed all of the tests twice, except the final exam which you can take once. I purchased a three inch binder and tabs to organize the information. I scored a 117 on the final exam and that's the score I received on the ASWB LCSW exam! When I arrived at the testing center, I was very nervous but sat down and wrote on the dry erase booklet a few tips I learned from the program and looked at the booklet quite frequently when I needed reassurance. I remember Amanda saying frequently "You are well prepared to pass this test" and that's what I wrote down. I also wrote down the number one hints to consider when thinking of each scenario, as it was also frequently stated in the audio lectures (i.e child abuse, elder abuse, msuicidality, substance use, domestic violence, and medical issue). Each question, I thought about those hints before reading the answers then chose from the answer set. It seemed to work well for me and it helped me to think about what the answer might be before looking at the answers. I previously used the NASW study system and this system was by far the most helpful in helping me to pass the exam. Thanks so much!! I am so grateful that I stumbled upon your system. I highly recommend the Therapist Development Center study system!!

TDC's program is amazing, I passed the test on the first try. I honestly felt that the test was easy to pass.  The program is so easy to follow; it trains you to think critically and even though some of the questions I was not expecting on the test, the framing technique helped me very much to figure out how to answer. The other thing that was helpful in passing was the chart to track down my answers. It became like a puzzle that was easy to figure out. I can’t recommend this program enough to my friends who are finishing their hours and are preparing to take the test. This program makes you feel successful.

Hi Everyone. I started my Social Work career in 2006 when I graduated with my MSW. I went right to work and stayed at the same agency for almost 10 years. I didn't need my LSW there however, it's always been a career goal of mine to obtain it. I took it that November and unfortunately didn't pass. I continued to work and three years later took it again; failed. SIX years later, I said to myself I WILL get my LSW. I resigned from my job in January and took some time for myself before i started to study.

I took the NASW workshop (which I did find helpful) however, it wasn't until I came across TDC that I was super determined. This exam is SO overwhelming. There's so much content, so much to understand, grasp, some memorization etc. However, TDC breaks everything down for you. They help you make a PLAN how to study, WHAT to study and WHEN to study. I followed EVERYTHING they said from how to prepare for exam to what to think day of the exam. They give you a study plan that you can go by. I started on March 2nd and finished just yesterday, March 25th. I can proudly say TODAY, I PASSED!!!!!!!!!! My husband told me to take the exam now as a "practice" because it's been so long and if I didn't pass i would be eligible to take it again in June (Before the DSM changed). I went in with a positive attitude telling myself I can do this, but it's okay if I don't pass. I have the TDC study Plan to repeat.

It was almost as though I looked forwarded to studying with TDC (which is rare for anyone) but they made it interactive, fun, and I enjoyed learning Social Work through them. The rationales were so helpful when you got the questions wrong on the Mock exams. The tips on what the questions are actually looking for really helped me today going through the test. TDC broke everything up in sections to REALLY help you not feel overwhelmed. You truly understand what you were learning. I LOVED the fact that I could rewind Amanda's voice as many times as I need to. I emailed Emily Pellegrino on random questions I had and she always got back to me right away which was so helpful.

I really can't think TDC enough for their support and guidance. I know there's a MILLION books, study guides, blogs, reviews, websites etc. (because I read and looked through them all) but spend the $ here. Give yourself the time you deserve to focus on this exam. They're with you every step of the way & that's a promise. Good luck to all you Social Workers out there. You can do this. Prepare with TDC.....you won't regret it. Thank you to Amanda and Emily, I appreciate you more than you ever will know!!!
