A very helpful reminder how important it is to not shy away from our clients' pain
This course did a fabulous job bridging the gap between clinical training I've received so far and how to implement what I've learned with a humanistic approach. Many clients have given me feedback that other approaches I've used have felt too cold and clinical, too focused on checking off my to-do list to make sure I don't get sued or that my client does not die. This approach still acknowledges the important factors that go into assessment and management, but it adds the component of how to actually sit with a client in their pain and suffering while also developing a level of gratitude and eagerness in exploring their reasons for considering suicide.
Fantastic course that all therapists can benefit from!
Amazing!! Thank you for all you are doing to help our field!
I love the course as it helped me understand the importance of addressing suicide and not running away from it. I agree that there is a need in my life and practice to have a better understanding of how to help someone with suicidal ideation. Perfect timing and instruction for me.
An overall wonderful course that speaks directly to the experience of the therapist and provides a framework on how to work with someone who is having thoughts of suicide. Having already taken courses such as ASIST and organizational-specific courses, this course amplified and will help to supplement my existing treatment practice.
I have to reiterate ( Amanda ) is just an amazing person, without her I would have never passed my IL- LCSW Exam, and hearing her stories of how she has had so many struggles , I now know why she was so warm and empathic to my learning struggles, and my anxiety and depression after failing the examination so many times (12) to be exact. Amanda made me believe that I could overcome anything and just like the edge of life when she says sit with the client , that's what she and her staff did for me, they were in my corner til i passed.. I am so proud to collaborate on this course and support her vision.
Sincerely
I love You Amanda, and Thank you
