Social Work Exam Prep Reviews
I thank God I found Amanda’s program. I was able to pass both exams the first time around with the Amanda Rowan Study System! Bethany was so helpful getting me started and the coaches were available to answer questions promptly. I had another study system that I won at a conference. I found the amount of study material alone overwhelming. I decided to go with the Therapist Development Center instead. It was worth the investment and I found the system to meet my learning style. I would recommend this program to anyone looking for a simple, uncomplicated program. Thank You Amanda and the Therapist Development Center Team.
I recently passed the California LCSW exam on my very first try. Amanda and the team quickly prepare you to succeed. Every time I had a question or a slight doubt, I would email my coach. She responded quickly and answered my questions clearly. Much appreciation to the TDC and thank you again for helping me succeed! Already recommended this program to the coworkers and friends. Thank you again! :)
This program was so helpful and I know it was a key component to me passing the exam!
I was skeptical about using the Therapist Development Center because I heard that it was "easier" than AATBS. I used AATBS material exclusively until I failed the Clinical Vignette exam. I decided to give TDC a try. The program indeed prepared me to approach the exam from the perspective needed to pass. To pass the exam, one needs to be very clear on what is being tested, and for that, having the right strategies is absolutely crucial. The material offered by TDC fits that purpose exceptionally well.
The fact that it is concise and straightforward is definitely an advantage too. I found all of the aspects of the material helpful: framing, crossing the clearly incorrect answer choices, being clear on the difference between legal and ethical obligations, and many other relevant elements that indeed appeared on the real test. I completed the exam with 20 minutes to spare, just like I did on the practice tests. This is different from the first time I took the test, when I spent way too much time reading and rereading the vignettes and rating the same elements multiple times. The strategies presented in TDC material have eliminated the pressure of time for me on this exam (and I am not a native English-speaker). Bottom line, I highly recommend giving TDC a try as the primary preparation material of choice.
I took my test on 6/5/15 and passed on the first try with 84%. My story is probably not typical. I received my MSW in NY State in 1987. At that time, if you passed the state exam right out of grad school, you immediately received a LCSW. I worked in the field for about 6 years, left the field, ran a restaurant with my husband for years, raised my children, and let my license lapse. When I decided to reenter the field in 2011, I learned that I would only get a LMSW certification until I passed the ASWB exam. I went back and forth about taking the exam so many times it was unreal; I would stop studying for months only to pick the study material back up. I finally decided just to study and take it and let whatever happens, happens.
I used both LEAP and TDC, but I used TDC far more as Leap does present you with an overwhelming amount of material that is unrealistic and unnecessary to learn. They were quite dismissive when it came to contacting them to clarify some questions; they obviously got their money and that’s all they wanted.
I had the opposite experience with TDC. They present you with a reasonable amount of information to learn. They also really do help you to understand what the questions are after and figure out why their answers are correct. I also have to say when they say they are with you till you pass they really mean it. I used their job coach services (for no extra charge) more times than I can count. I’m not sure how many coaches they have, but I always spoke with/texted Bethany. Her knowledge and patience with answering all of my questions was beyond what I could’ve hoped for. I felt very prepared when I took the test.
