MFT Exam Prep Reviews

Thank you all so much!! I was so surprised at how comfortable I felt in the room taking the test. After hearing from other friends and colleagues how much they felt like they were not passing, I expected to feel so much anxiety in the testing room. I think Amanda and TDC preparing me for feeling that way helped that feeling be minimal or non-existent. I felt confident, took breaks, and really attacked the test...just like you said! I took the day before off and mentally prepared myself, and tried to be as calm as possible on test day. Best advice, from my dad: Get a massage the day before. TDC was amazing!!! Thank you so much for creating a practical, digestible, easy to use program that helped me pass the test, and better yet, made me a more diligent clinician. I will recommend you to everyone who takes this test.

Excellent study prep program! I chose TDC because so many of my friends had used TDC and passed. I am so grateful for the method of studying TDC uses: understanding how to read the questions in order to choose the best answer instead of being overwhelmed with too many terms/theories/etc. that need to be memorized. Thank you for breaking it down in a logical way! I felt extremely confident when it was time to take the exam and used Amanda's mental reminders throughout it to keep me on track. I have recommended your program to so many friends (who have passed their exams) and will continue!

I became licensed in California in 2005, but moved to another state that required that I take the AMFTRB. I was angry, in denial, and put it off for two years and did not even work at all in my profession. A friend recommended that I use this study program because it had helped her pass the tests required in California. What I liked about this study program was that it provided exactly what I needed to pass the test. I studied a couple of hours a day and gave myself weekends pretty much off until right before the test. I required less than two months to be prepared. This means I was able to have a 'life' other than study. Because I was licensed in 2005, I had learned the DSM IV. DSM V is a different game. However, the lectures helped immensely on that. When I got my scores back, I was astonished to find that not only did I pass, but I passed by a very wide margin. I am 65 years old and I had fears that I might not be able to pass this, that maybe I wasn't as 'sharp' as I had been when I took the California exams. Wrong! Thank you so much! I guess having to take the AMFTRB sharpened my skills and I feel better prepared than ever to work in my field.

Sandra J.H. Braun,

I passed my L&E today!! I studied with TDC. The questions were written exactly like the mocks. I felt really prepared and confident. I took a full 7 weeks to study, which I probably didn't need to do. I took all the mock exams and scored in the mid to high 70s, then I took the final mocks and scored low 70s. I should have stopped then but was afraid because my score went down, so I took a Gerry Grossman test! Bad idea--completely different format and I didn't do well (68) and my confidence went down. But after a couple pep-talks with people who had passed and failed, I evaluated my test weaknesses (anxiety and distractions) and created strategies for overcoming the stress that would help me focus. Then I redid the first three mocks and scored crazy high (95), listened to the rationales and knew I was ready and could not prepare any more than I had already. And as recommended as a tool to reduce stress, I got to the testing site more than an hour early and had time to check out the sign-in procedures and see everything ahead of time. Then I did some relaxed breathing and listened to a pre-exam hypnosis I found on YouTube, which focused on motivation, enthusiasm, preparedness, and enjoying exams. When finished with that, I ate a small snack, went to the bathroom and checked into the exam feeling very alert and motivated. During the test I continued to feel confident and when reading a question whose answer didn't come logically, I assumed it was a question that didn't count and spent little time on it (I was finding myself being critical of the writing style and thinking of what was missing--that is when I said 'don't worry' and moved on). I finished with 2 minutes to spare, which was perfect planning as I was ready to turn it over to my higher power as I waited for them to tell me I passed (actually they don't tell you, they hand you a sheet of paper that tells you the news).
