MFT Exam Prep Reviews

Matthew Holley, MFT

For exam #1 I used Gerry Grossman materials, and about 20 minutes into the exam I felt as if I didn't know what test I was taking. Somehow I still managed to pass, but I didn't want to replicate that experience for exam 2. Many colleagues and former colleagues recommended your materials, and I'm so glad they did. I actually enjoyed the study process, I felt confident going into the exam, and using the frames and the VV/V/?/X grid were SO SO helpful. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!

Cheryl Heinla,

I’m grateful to report that I passed the MFT SWE. I felt ready for the test, but was not at my sharpest due to a case of insomnia the night before. I questioned my ability to function well for the 4 hour marathon.  It was tough, but I am convinced that the TDC strategies saved me.  At the halfway point, I was behind the clock; and spent the 2nd half rushing through to catch up. I was feeling that I was not passing, and tried to take comfort in the knowledge that this is what other people reported.  I really zeroed in on the test strategies Amanda provides to get to the point. My time ran out at question 200, which I did not get to answer, let alone go back and review marked questions. I was so relieved to see “PASS” pop-up.  I did toy around with some of the other test companies free online practice teasers to see if I should augment my study info. I may have learned a thing or two, but they just tied my brain in knots. Grateful I stayed focused on TDC’s compass! It mirrors the real test very well! The study materials reinforced what I already knew and taught me new information. I had the time to go through the module twice, which I recommend. I also appreciated timely responses from the coaches on questions and concerns I had with mock exams. Thank you, TDC!

Lusijah Rott,

Therapist Development Center was thorough but concise as a review and excellent in framing test taking strategy. I was especially appreciative of the support on the Mock exams which helped me on how to approach the test.  Many thanks!

Christie Tcharkhoutian,

Thank you so much to TDC for the wonderful preparation for the SWE! I truly feel like the strategies of the program were the most helpful component to passing. I heard Amanda's voice in my head as I read the questions and I felt very calm and prepared. I felt that the questions were truly reflective of Amanda's belief that the test is NOT trying to trick you. The coaching call with Asya was very helpful as well in helping me uncover the strategy of not inferring things but rather making sure to stick with what is in the question stem and look for cues. The only thing I struggled with on the test was timing, but was prepared to feel like that when I went through the coaching with Asya to be prepared for timing to feel a lot different on the test and go by a lot quicker. Thankfully, I was able to stay focused and just keep moving through and get to the last question, although I did not have any time to go back to my marked questions. Thank you TDC for the preparation!! Looking forward to studying for the CVE!

Charles Yin,

I loved Amanda's approach: simple, practical, and effective.  Not only was I encouraged to learn the most essential information covered on the exam but, more importantly, I felt confident knowing how to approach the exam based on neuroscience.  This system covers important non-exam material (e.g. self-care, attitude, organization) that may be even more important than the content that is on the actual exam.
